Banditsu is a 25 year old rapper from North West London. He tells us "I represent a movement called New Wave London. We are rappers who aren't afraid to embrace the alternative/different approaches to lyrics, or content for that matter." This much is clear from Banditsu's latest EP, The Miseducation of Itsu.

Shot by L'rye Guin

When asked what music means to him, the born & raised londoner says "music is of great importance to me. I think about it every second of the day. It's also therapeutic, and has gotten me through the darkest hours."

Banditsu and others like him represent a literal "new wave" of artists within the grime sphere, who are branching out and developing their sounds, while taking inspiration from elsewhere. The rapper says "I feel like I can inspire a generation of kids to create music how they want, and to not follow the crowd."- a noble cause, and something that drives his music.

Banditsu tells us that "The Miseducation of Itsu" came from his own acronym:

M.I.S.E.D.U.C.A.T.E.D
