Whilst most high street brands seek to harness the power of collaborating with another big name brand, Topshop have taken a more insightful approach to their collaborations. Rather than opting to work with some major designers, Topshop chooses to support up-and-coming labels, gaining them the exposure that they need. Marques'Almeida is the newest label to collaborate with Topshop among other new designers such as Mary Katrantzou and Richard Nicoll to name a few.
Marta Marques and Paulo Almeida launched their brand in 2011 and yesterday, they officially unveiled their 68 piece collection across Topshop stores and online.
There’s no doubt that the collection just oozes the effortless and unquestionable 90’s cool-girl feel with simple monochrome basics and bright knits & accessories. Think about early editions of i-D and the days where Devon Aoki was everyone’s ultimate girl crush (well, she still is to be honest.)
Another big part of the collection is the heavy focus on denim – which the duo considers to be an integral part of the ‘youth’ code of dressing. Ripped, frayed and distressed to perfection, denim is the way to go if you’re looking to score a piece of the labels signature aesthetic.
